Microdermabrasion…What in the World is That?

Hello Modern Guys and Gals,

Microderms are one of the most popular services here at Modern Aesthetics… But what are they and what can they do for you? Let’s take a quick rundown of what happens during a microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion is one of the fastest growing non-invasive skincare treatments. And, compared to the high cost of more invasive procedures, it’s also one of the least expensive. If you have ever wanted to brighten your complexion or achieve younger looking skin, a microderm may be the perfect solution for you.

A microdermabrasion is performed in a plastic surgery clinic or spa by a licensed professional. After a thorough skincare analysis to determine your best treatment plan, your esthetician will use a small wand to exfoliate the top layer of skin. The microderm wand has a diamond tip that gently buffs away the rough outer layer of skin to reveal the softer, more youthful skin beneath the surface. The procedure takes less than an hour and is completely pain free.

Microdermabrasion treatments are perfect for:

The results of the microderm can last for several weeks. After your procedure, your esthetician will recommend a skincare plan and suggest products custom tailored to meet your skincare needs. For the best results, your esthetician will also recommend a series of additional treatments, typically every 4-6 weeks, depending on your treatment goals. Following the recommended skincare plan will prolong the results of your treatments.

The recovery time for a microdermabrasion is minor. There is no down time and you can resume your normal activities immediately after your treatment. Microdermabrasion is safe for all skin types. In rare instances, a patient may experience pink skin or minor redness, but it usually disappears within a day.

For the vast majority, a microdermabrasion is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Modern Aesthetics clients have described it as being similar to a gentle massage. So lay back, relax, and enjoy the experience like you would any other skincare service.
